PDG+creative has created a monster! The firm recently launched a unique new website that allows users to search multiple stock photo sites from one online location.
Cyclo.ps eliminates the need to visit individual stock sites, such as iStockphoto, Shutterstock and Fotolia for photography, illustrations or video clips. Instead, users can conduct a single search through Cyclo.ps and view multiple results from the leading stock photo sites. In addition to basic seach functions, Cyclo.ps also allows users to collect results from various sources in a single lightbox, which is incredibly useful for keeping all research in a single location.
“I honestly have no idea why we haven’t seen any other attempts to launch a site like this,” said Matt Pendergraff, Principal and Executive Creative Director, addressing why others have not attempted a site with the functionality and service benefits of Cyclo.ps. “Because it’s such a simple idea, it seems like this should have been done before now.”
A beta version of Cyclo.ps is currently live and offering results from five different stock sites; additional sources will be added in the near future. The functionality of the site focuses on simplicity and ease of use. According to Jared Patton, Interactive Art Director, usability was of the utmost importance because, without it, researchers would just assume spend time visiting multiple sites.
"Once the site has had a chance to attract a considerable user base, it will continue to evolve," said Pendergraff. "We'll start collecting API information from the sites we currently serve and Cyclo.ps will get quite a lot bigger in terms of the number of stock photo sites it pulls from."
